What is community gardening?

Community gardening refers to individuals and/or collectives growing food, vegetables, flowers and/or herbs in a common or shared space. Plots can be individualized (allotment gardens) and/or collectively grown (collective community gardens). Common reasons for community gardening include;

-Increasing access to fresh produce
-Developing a sense of community
-Beautifying a neighborhood or landscape
-Encouraging a healthy connection with nature
-Neighborhood improvement
-Skill building / education
-Promoting healthy living, healthy eating
